How Time Flies...

I am back!

I've been busy, to say the least. Things are back up and running, finally. I have a new headboard design that is wonderful. This one is a twin, distressed, in espresso brown. I have the original in a bedroom of our home, and I LOVE it!

I'm currently working on a side table to match. (I'm very excited!)

Also in the works...

A Queen & King size headboard!! So look for those in the future.

Enjoy your day!

Busy

I have to apologize for the LACK of posts. There has been a lot going on in my life, things that have kept me from my business. I will get back in the groove soon, hopefully. For now, enjoy all that you have, give your kids a hug, call an old friend, and create your perfect world.

Check back later!!

Thanks for all the support and love!

WireFox

This is another of my faves! There are a few pics that I will be purchasing for our new house! (when we find it!)

WireFox has an eye for perfection!

I am inspired by poets, even, no especially, the emotional auto-destructive ones like Edgar Allen Poe, Sylvia Plath, and Robert Lowell. I also adore healthier artists, Pablo Neruda, Frida Kahlo, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and the like. The tension between so much life, and so much trauma fascinates me, and always will. Recently, I've tried to shy away from studying the death instinct, and look as closely as I can at lives lived in full, spurred on passions as well as the need for survival. I also adore rain storms, post offices, caffeine in any medium, hand written letters, and long conversations.

I am inspired as well by my old Professors, Carolyn Harper, the best Theatre professor anyone ever had, and a certain Jessica Rattigan who not only moderated my undergrad poetry workshops, but scheduled private sessions that were better, and more therapeutic than the majority of psychoanalyst sessions.

I've been doing photography since my hands were large
enough to both hold the camera and reach the shutter. I was terrible at it for years. Years. Fellow etsians, remember, you may have talent you are unaware of until you hit a learning curve. I wasn't any good at all until I was ten years old, and using my Mother's point an shoot Olympus on a two week trip to Costa Rica. I've long since lost those negatives and photos, and therefore convinced myself that my childhood assertion that they really were the best photos ever is correct.

However, I was not good enough to market myself until early high school, and I certainly was not a photographer anyone would want to seek our until Late college. Something about the way I saw the world began to change by degrees while I was in New York, and then I spent a summer in California, and the change was so sudden it was as if my vision had shattered and reformed over night. Since then, (that is, around 2007) I've worked as a photo editor for a college newspaper, a head shot photographer for various artists, a theatre photography archivist, a family portraiture photographer, a boudoir assistant, an etsy item photographer, a vacation documentary producer,a projection designer, fashion photographer, events photographer, a cinemaphotographer for five different independent films, and also worked with various models, a chihuahua, and several derelict buildings. Breath. I'm sure I've forgotten something.
Check out her shop! You won't be disappointed!

ENJOY~

Feature Friday!

I would like to introduce....
BCharmer

I so love finding fellow etsians that are from the Northwest. Colleen's designs are one of a kind, and definitely worth checking out! Here is a little bit about her in her own words.

"I was the child of two gypsy type hippies who were both very creative, so I got my start being a compulsive crafter very early on. I spent the majority of my childhood outside, roaming the nearby woods and working on our farm, so my inspiration comes from the out of doors. I am always suprised by the striking colors and patterns that are hidden in the simplest looking bird or flower. The Northern Flicker is one of my favorite birds because, from a distance, it looks like an unremarkable buff-colored bird. Up close, one discovers that it is covered in polka dots, has a red moustache, a black crescent moon on it's chest, and BRIGHT salmon colored feather shafts on it's tail and wing. And did you know that a poppy seed is neither round nor smooth? It is shaped like a kidney bean and is covered with the most beautiful, intricate hexagon pattern! These secret discoveries make my heart beat fast and make me want to create.

I have a degree in Marine Biology and then went on to the University of Washington to study scientific illustration. I worked in both fields for some years before having my daughter Bronwyn. I then decided to stay home with Bronwyn, and began sewing clothes for her and accessories for myself as a way to have a practical creative outlet. I am a self-taught seamstress, and I draft my own patterns because I find it difficult to read other people's patterns. In addition to sewing, I enjoy spinning natural fibers, knitting, embroidery, gardening, bird watching, drawing, hiking and spending time with my beloved family and friends."

Colleen's products can be found in shops from Washington to New Zealand, incase you aren't near one, check her out on Etsy.
Stop by her blog to see what she has been up to, and whats to come in her shop.
Thanks for stopping by!
